STEP 2: Create a Book

Add your book by going to the Authoring Studio at https://studio.knito.com, or click on the button below. You get a WORD like interface for adding and editing your book.

Lots of features to create info boxes, tables, add images, videos, and symbols.

You can add link outs to resources outside of your book.

Embed link to interactive assets or add them inside your book.

Authoring Studio supports multi languages.

STUDIO

Create your ePUB3 book in two ways. Either import any of your existing books or create one from scratch in the Authoring Studio. If you are importing, note that the studio takes both WORD and ePUB format files.

Please take a look at the studio help centre and study various tips and guides and best practices for using the studio. There is also a studio manual in the book store.

A book is really at its best when it has a reasonable number of ePUB3 features to give an attractive and immersive reading experience. So familiarize yourself with these elements in the studio.

Get used to looking at books differently. ePUB3 is the standard of online books and as we receive more and more feedbacks from our publishers we will be enhancing studio features as well.

Adding link outs will make a book very rich but light in terms of volume, However, it makes it dependent on internet availability and reduces offline reading possibility. We have added many features to the studio to help you decide how to add some of your assets in order to maintain offline reading capability.

Our studio is a social authoring platform which lets a number of people work collaboratively and communicate with each other.

STEP 3: Add Interactive

Create interactive assets by going to the Interactive Studio at https://interactive.knito.com, or click on the button below.

Many possibilities to create interactive assets in multi languages.

Embed your interactive assets into your book or add their HTML5 to the book to ensure offline access.

Go back and forth to the authoring studio to complete your book.

INTERACTIVE

Interactive studio is a multi language and web based component of KNiTO direct publishing platform. You can create many different interactive assets. They are broadly divided into two groups of assessments and multimedia.

You can design and create different types of assessments with the aim of testing a reader’s grasp of knowledge from a section or topic in a book, to teaching and testing at the same time.

Make multimedia assets to create a more immersive reading and learning experience for learners.

You might also wish to use an interactive element that you have used before and is compatible with KNiTO. So, try embedding or adding it to the book.

We will be adding help topics and FAQs as we receive your questions. Of course, all our interactive components do have plenty of examples and “how to” guides. Nevertheless, you will need to practice and learn how best to create most effective objects and plant in your books.

STEP 4: Publish

Your final step at Authoring Studio is publishing the book that you have created. However, before that, you must make sure to add as much as possible to the metadata of the book, add a cover, decide on the copyright, and other features of your book.

Once your book is ready to be published, you can publish it directly from studio to the store, which automatically takes you to your publishing dashboard in the store at  https://store.knito.com .

Alternatively go to the store directly. Once you are registered as a publisher in Step 1 above, the store will recognize you as a publisher and gives you option to access your publisher dashboard.

Once inside the store, you can complete your book’s metadata, add authors, price, and more and set it to be published.

STORE

By the time you are ready to publish your book, you must have decided about many important aspects of your book. We call them book details and metadata. They include language, license, authors bio, title, publication date, copyright date, book descriptions, list of credits such as cover designer, and more.

Many of such information might be filled and added later on and they will be reflected in new revisions of the book. But you should try to add the most essential metadata. They help your book to be discovered faster.

Your last action inside authoring studio is a click on the PUBLISH button. You have two options here. One option is to create an ePUB3 file, then go to the publisher admin dashboard inside the store and add the book manually. A quicker option is to directly publish the book into the store.

In either cases, once you are in the store, and have selected the publisher admin option, you will be able to add  extra metadata and add  your book to the store.

But wait! There is still one last action which you cannot do and it is the job of the store admin. Once you publish your book, it is not yet technically added to the store. The store admin must check your book for comleteness and then release to the store. This is it!

By the way, there is a use for publishing your book as an ePUB3 file. Sometimes publishers would like to see how their books look and feel, or have some short runs for select people before fully publishing a book for the general public. If you check our web or native app readers, you will see that you can access google drive and retrieve ePUB3 files to your reader.
